A trained person performs some actions, which are skillfully performed according to some regular pattern or role. This type of teaching is related mainly to a psychomotor domain. A trained person can perform a particular skill without understanding the basic principles or laws of this behaviour.

Instruction is a higher level of teaching compared to training. It is mainly concerned with the development of knowledge and understanding of things, concepts, systems, processes etc. This mode of teaching requires thinking, reasoning, generalization etc. It helps acquire objectives related to the cognitive domain. Instruction can also be given through different ways even without direct face-to-face interaction. Therefore, it can be said that instruction is a part of teaching.
